Our aim

We want everyone to be able to look round the hotel, check the free rooms and book, including people who use a screen reader, only a keyboard, screen magnification or a high-contrast mode.

The chiflikhills.com website is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

How far the site meets it

By our own check the site meets WCAG 2.2 AA, with the limitations below. We checked every page, in Bulgarian and English, at phone and desktop widths:

automatically, with axe-core and Lighthouse: no WCAG 2.2 AA violation on any page;
by keyboard: the menus, the gallery, the forms, the date picker, the cookie settings and the foot of the pages;
on a narrow screen (down to 320 pixels), with reduced motion, with forced colours and with the system's higher contrast.

What you can expect

A "Skip to content" link at the start of every page and a clear structure of headings.
Everything works by keyboard, with a visible focus.
Photos are described; decorative ones are skipped by screen readers.
Text has enough contrast and can be enlarged to 200% without losing content.
Motion stops if you chose "reduce motion" in your system. The birdsong never starts on its own.
Forms say what is wrong, in words, beside each field.
Dialogs (the cookie settings, for example) close with Esc and give the focus back where they were opened.

Known limitations

We have not yet checked the site together with people who use screen readers every day; the checks are automated and manual, by keyboard.
Card payment happens on the card payment provider's page. The provider is responsible for its accessibility.
The links to Google Maps, Facebook, Viber, WhatsApp and Booking.com lead to sites we do not run.
